What is wrong with my overhead comp themometer?

I have 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad cab. I live in upstate SC and the temerapture has been in the high 90's this past week. It seems my overhead themometer keeps freezing up around 82 or 83 degrees. Whats the matter with it, and is there an easy fix for this problem?
