Have you ever known someone, that didnt take proper care of their pets, or almost neglected them?

Yes, many, many years ago I became close friends with my sons first grade teacher. (my son is now 32) She claimed to be a true animal lover of all sorts from dogs to cats to birds, etc. Anyway, the first time I went to her home, I wanted to puke. She had WAY more pets than she had originally told me in a tiny 800 sq. ft. home. Her house was so filthy and smelly that I just wanted to run out the door. The cat boxes weren't cleaned, both dog and cat poop on the floor, opened canned dog food that was never refrigerated. fleas everywhere, you name it. She took in so many of other peoples unwanted pets, due to her love of animals. It was really terrible. She was a very needy person and this must have filled her void somehow. Looking back at this decades later, I believe that she truly was a hoarder, and it was not to give these animals a better life, it was to fill her void of loneliness, among other issues she had.
