Concerning the SHSAT! (For New Yorkers Only)?

Hi. I am a soon to be 8th grader who is going to take the SHSAT and I am starting to study now to get into Stuy. For all of you who got into a Specialized High School, did you try to do perfect on one part and get like 60% right on the other part? If you did, what score did you get and did you get into the school of your choice? I ask, because they tell you in most prep books that you will get into your first choice school if you do that. I suck at math, so I am wondering if to just perfect my reading and do my best in the math. Thanks for all your help.
